# Connect your ChatGPT Site to your address

Once site.link is in ChatGPT, one message connects your Site to your address. ChatGPT and site.link take turns behind the scenes, and you watch it happen in the chat.

What you need

* site.link added to ChatGPT.
* A Site you built with ChatGPT Sites.

## 1\. Open the chat with your Site

Go back to the chat where you built your Site with ChatGPT Sites. Type **@site.link** and pick it from the list, so this chat can use it. If site.link isn't in the list, [add site.link to ChatGPT](/help/add-mcp-app-to-chatgpt) first.

A new chat works too. Tell ChatGPT which Site you mean, by its name or by its address, which looks like `luna-cafe.maple312.chatgpt.site`.

## 2\. Ask for the address

Ask for the name you want:

Give this Site the address mycafe.site.link

ChatGPT and site.link take turns, and the chat shows each step as it's done:

1. site.link reserves the name for your account.
2. ChatGPT adds mycafe.site.link to your Site as a custom domain.
3. Your Site lists the DNS records it needs, and site.link creates them.
4. Your Site checks the records and turns on HTTPS.

@site.link Give this Site the address mycafe.site.link

 Used site.link

Done. **mycafe.site.link** now points to your Site.

* Name reserved for your account
* Added to your Site as a custom domain
* DNS records created
* HTTPS turning on, usually within a few minutes

If ChatGPT asks you to add the domain yourself, it couldn't change the Site's settings from the chat. That's one short step: [add your address to the Site by hand](/help/chatgpt-site-dns-records).

## 3\. Wait for HTTPS

The DNS records are ready within a minute or two. HTTPS usually follows a few minutes after your Site verifies the domain. Until then, the address may not load, or your browser may warn that the connection isn't secure. That goes away on its own, so there's nothing to fix.

## 4\. Check that it's live

Ask in the same chat:

@site.link Is mycafe.site.link live yet?

 Used site.link

Yes. mycafe.site.link loads your Site over HTTPS.

site.link checks the records and the HTTPS certificate, and says what's still pending if it isn't live yet. You can ask as often as you like.

## Move it to another Site

Built a new Site and want the same address on it? Say **"Move mycafe.site.link to my new Site"**. ChatGPT adds the address to the new Site and site.link replaces the old records, so visitors land on the new one.

A name does one job at a time. If you later ask Claude to publish a page at the same name, Claude checks with you before it moves the name off your Site.
